Arizona Music
Welcome to the Arizona Music Page! Scroll down and you will find info and links for local music organizations and radio stations, our exclusive Roger Clyne merchandise, and a little bit of Arizona music history.

Arizona has produced a number of artists that have had enjoyed nationwide success.
When we were at our ASU location, it was a little tougher to promote Arizona music due to the transitory nature of our clientele. Now that we are hitting the street, our goal is to get more involved.
Please let us know if you have any ideas, community organizations, or links that may be applicable for this page.
Arizona Music Community
No Arizona Music Page would be complete without a mention of the Tucson bands.
There are some fantastic music organizations in Arizona. Hoodlums has been lucky enough to work with a few of them over the years, and we hope to get more involved in the new store. Click the image and it will take you to the organization’s website.
Jazz in AZ. We’ll start with jazz, because jazz is one of our big passions. We were lucky enough to work with the folks at Jazz in Arizona last year during their thirtieth anniversary, which featured one of our all-time faves, Medeski, Martin, and Wood. This non-profit is run by passionate jazz fans that are dedicated to promoting jazz in our state.
Phoenix Blues Society. Another passionate group that has been around for years (founded in 1989), the PBS is composed entirely of volunteers that love and support the blues in our area. If you want to be part of the Phoenix Blues scene, this is the place to start.
Silver Platter. Your Weekly Dish of Desert Culture. Our friend and fellow record store owner Kimber Lanning put together this great new website to highlight what is going on in the world of arts and culture in the Phoenix Area. If you want to know about an upcoming show, this is a good place to start.
Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture. In addition to thirty plus music links, featuring everything from Opera to Childrens Choir, this page will link you to the other organization within the following arts: Dance, Theater, Visual, Multidisciplinary, and Cultural.
Arizona Coalition for Music Education and Community Performace. That name doesn’t exactly roll off the ol’ tongue, but this website can put you in touch with community performers from the 108th Army Band to the Yuma Community Orchestra Association.
For other fine Arizona links, see our Community Links page.
Radio Info for the Valley of the Sun

These Arizona artists have provided big radio and video hits that were pure pop gems.
Since this is an Arizona Music page, we figured we’d provide some radio info. Even though guys like us listen to our own music most of the time, sometimes the radio is the proper music option. We’ve been in the Valley quite a while, so we’ve heard enough to figure out what we want programmed into our radios.
KJZZ. KJazz is the radio station most likely to be on if we have the radio on in the Wileymobile. They provide NPR Radio all day long, so you know there is less of a chance that your news will be infected by corporate ownership. Better yet, they turn to acoustic jazz at night, featuring Blaise Lantana, so you know we love that. On Sunday nights, catch the Lowdown Blues with Bob Corritore, which has been running for more than twenty years. This website is also loaded with information about the local blues and jazz scene. Please support NPR.
KOOL. This is the other station most likely to be on the dial. KOOL plays rock, pop, and soul and covers the fifties through the seventies. Their format has a lot more variety than the classic rock stations – and when I want to rock I put on an album anyway (cause you have to love the non-radio tracks best). From The Foundations to Steppenwolf to Eric Burdon. Just like the good old days in North Dakota when radio had two formats: Country and Other.
The Blaze. This one is programmed, but it’s tough to get unless you are on campus. Even though we aren’t going to be on campus anymore, we can still tune in online to ASU’s fine college station. If you want a good dose of the new rock and roll that works for the college crowd (which means the good stuff… always has), this is your best bet in the Valley. The Blaze has been a long-time ultra supporter of Hoodlums. We wish that signal was stronger.
Also programmed: KSLX (classic rock), KDKB (rock), 620 (Dbacks/Sports), 910 (Sports), 1060 (Sports), 1480 (Politics)
The entire list. We aren’t L.A. or anything, but we still have way too many radio stations to list. We turn to Wikipedia to provide you a complete list of Arizona radio stations. You can sort the list by call signs, frequencies, cities of license, licensees, and programming formats.
DeepOldies.com. Friend and customer Mariah Fleming and her band of zany music-lovers go real, real deep… for those of you that have had enough of the regular radio world. Check it out. PS. In addition, this same bunch have started a ‘Net magazine at Musicandmoreaz.com
Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers merchandise
Hoodlums is the exclusive “street” home of Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers merchandise. The only other place you can get these cool RCPM shirts, stickers, hats, blankets, and flasks is by either:
a) going to an RCPM show (which we highly recommend… but they go on tour for a long time, and you are going to need this stuff sooner than that), or
b) by going to the RCPM website (which is nice and all… but what fun will that be compared to hanging out with us?).
Arizona Music History
If you’ve been around Arizona long enough, you probably know about these artists.
As a state, we are one of the babies of the family. It wasn’t until later in the 1900s that everyone and their grandma starting moving here (including us). With that considered, our little state has managed to represent pretty well in the field of music.
Check out the following links if you are interested in knowing more about Arizona Music.
Arizona Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame. It’s funny how many cool little sites you find when you are just surfing. This website has a ton of great Arizona Music Info, plus links to music stores, related museums, and the Arizona artists themselves. Want to find out more about the Chuck Hall Band or Hans Olson? This is a great place to start.
Arizona Blues Hall of Fame. It’s simple: If our friend Johnny D. is an inductee, we need to have a link up here. As it is, we’re blues fans anyway – so it would have been up here anyway. This site connects with many of the artists featured on this page, because it covers the who’s who of Arizona Blues.
Three of Arizona’s most popular artists. If you are lucky, you might run into one of them somewhere. We didn’t put them at the top of the page because we are rebellious.
