We’ve also added a few albums that we’ve  that put together since.  If you want to see any of them, click the appropriate links.\n

Thank you for celebrating our 1st birthday with us!

\n

Thanks to all of our friends and customers who came out and helped us celebrate our 1st birthday (at the new location).  We had a great time, hanging out, munching, drinking, and of course, listening to music (provided by DJ Babynose).

\n

Most of all, we were enthralled by the killer art of our friend (and the creator of our logo and our t-shirts), Tempe artist Mike Maas in a show titled Aside and Besides: Paintings of Songs by Mike Maas. You can check out this great stuff on the Green Fuzz website.  The originals are even better, and you can view them at the store throughout October.  Many of the pieces have prints available for only $25!  What a cool holiday gift idea (I had to remind you. It’s almost October… and we are retailers).

\n

It was a tricky year to open a business (see the blog about it here), and it was great to celebrate.  If any of you have any pictures to add to our Facebook pics… please let us know.  We want to thank ASU’s State Press for their story on the event, as well as New Times for including us in Club Candids.

\n

Whether its one year at this location, or ten years at the old one, we couldn’t have done it without you.  Thanks!!

A year’s worth of art shows, benefits concerts, and wacky events

\n

This is the paragraph where I try to sum up all of the wacky events between the grand opening and the first birthday party, because I haven’t update the \”photo albums\” page since the grand opening.  Here it goes:

\n

They were awesome. Thank you all for attending. Come to the next one, and have some fun.

\n

Luckily, we’ve been very current on Facebook… so you can see that even though I was weak on updating this page, I have been posting pics of the events.  You can click any of the links to see the photo album of the past event.

\n

Cinematic Titanic In-store.  The gang from Mystery Science Theater 3000, now delighting audiences as Cinematic Titanic, came by Hoodlums and signed autographs.  MSTies are delighted.

\n

The Kids Are Alright! Art Show.  Young artist made up some sweet art on albums and vinyl… all for Scottsdale Boys and Girls Club.  Check out the art here.

\n

Hoodstock.  Our first charity event.  16 bands.  3 days of tasty music for a great charity (Ear Candy).

\n

Support Your Local Band Poster Show.  Spraygraphic artists from all over the world entered band posters for their favorite band from their home city.

\n

We Live Here – Tempe Art Show.  Some of our fellow Tempeans (is that right?) got together and did some cool prints that represented their view of our great city.

\n

Fill in the Groove Art show.  Artists creating work on albums.  Great stuff… tons of people.  Look for Fill in the Groove 2 on December 5th, 2009.

\n

Grand opening party and art show is a big hit!

\n

\nOur grand opening party, in conjunction with the opening of our first-ever art show, was a big success.  People filled the store for the entire time – mingling, browsing, talking with hoodlums and artists, and enjoying the art and the sounds of R&B with Johnny D.\n\nClick here to see the pictures on Facebook.\n\nArtists Who Visited the ASU Hoodlums\n\n\nWe have been extremely fortunate to have a ton of cool artists come by our store to play, sign autographs, and hang out with our customers. Remember, the more you support the in-stores… the more in-stores we can get. Thanks to all that have attended our events.\n\n\nBen Kweller performs outside Hoodlums in April ’04.  It was Ben’s second visit.\n\nWe tried to take pictures of almost every artist that has graced us with their presence… but I am sure we’ve missed a few.  If you are one of our Music Junkies, or an attendee of a past Hoods’ show, that has pictures or video that you would like to share, please contact us.\n\nClick here to see Hoodlums’ Past Instores on Facebook.\n\nThe hoodlums at Hoodlums\n\nWe wouldn’t be a good indie record store with good indie people… and we have had the BEST.  We expand quite a bit in the Story of Hoodlums section, but this little album will give you a good look at quite a few of the fiercely-independent, hard-working characters that have stalked the Hood.\n\n\n\nThose nutty kids at Hoodlums.  It’s a tough place to work, but someone has to do it.\n\nClick here to see The hoodlums at Hoodlums on Facebook.\n\nA Tour of Our First Store – Hoodlums at ASU \n\nOur first ten years of existence were spent in the wonderful community of Arizona State University. I guess that makes us ASU Alumni, eh?\n\nWe are excited about the new store, but we will never forget the store that got it started.  This album is a photo recap of the old store to help us.   It might have taken us ten years to graduate – but they were ten amazing years. Thanks to the ASU customers, faculty, students, and staff that made it a success!\n\n\n\nA shot of \”LP Corner\” at our ASU store. The new store is going to have more vinyl!\n\nClick here to see Tour of the ASU Hoodlums on Facebook.\n\nChrispee’s Amazing In-store Posters!\n\nOur friend, and our old manager’s husband, Christopher Specht, is really a great artist.  Whenever we got ample notice from a band/label about an in-store, he made us a customer poster for the show.  Click here to check ‘em out.  They are beautiful!\n\n \n\nClick here to see Chrispee’s Amazing In-store Posters on Facebook.
